Welcome to the River Hawk Community!

The following is a list of events and opportunities at Susquehanna University to help new students prepare for their first day on campus and beyond.

River Hawk Day

Monday, June 16, 2025
9:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

River Hawk Day is the premier summer opportunity for enrolling students to explore campus, meet their peers and connect with campus resources to help both new River Hawks and their families/supporters prepare for a successful transition to Susquehanna in the fall.

Take Flight: Orientation & Welcome Week

Take Flight: Orientation is a welcome program that begins Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025. After your family departs, you’ll attend information sessions and social activities, meet faculty and your academic advisor, participate in a day of volunteer service, connect with other students and more!

Welcome Week starts on your first day of classes, Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, and includes a variety of social and educational activities surrounding your classes during your first week at Susquehanna.

The 2025 Take Flight Orientation Schedule will be made available by early August.

Move-In Day

New students will arrive on campus on the following dates:

  • Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025 | Pre-Flight Participants Move-In
  • Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025 | Move-In Day for Incoming Transfer and Honor Students
  • Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 | Move-In Day for New Students

On Move-In Day, look for our Orientation Team in bright orange shirts. They’ll greet you, help with check-in, guide you to your residence hall, and even assist with moving your belongings. Be sure to reference our Packing for College Checklist as you prepare to move in.

Convocation

New students and your families are invited to attend an opening convocation, our annual ceremony to open the new academic year, and a welcome from the President, Provost, and members of the Board of Trustees.

  • Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 | Convocation, 2 p.m. in the Robert I. Estill Field House, James W. Garrett Sports Complex
