Orientation for New Students & Families
Attend a one-day, fun and immersive program designed to prepare you for academics and activities — and to celebrate your start at SU! All new students and their families are encouraged to attend. Check-in will start at 7:30 a.m. and the program will conclude by 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided for students. Families and guests can purchase lunch in the dining hall for $5 per person.
During Orientation, new students will:
- Meet other new students and get to know the campus.
- Get a first-hand look at student services and resources.
- Receive a copy of the first-year Common Reading.
During Orientation, parents and families will:
- Meet other SU parents and families, and get to know the campus.
- Learn about essential resources for your new student, and for you.
- Receive your copy of the Parent, Family & Supporters Handbook.
Choose one of the five days above to register.
Space for each session is limited, so register soon — but no later than June 5, 2020.
Detailed information will be sent the week of June 8, 2020, to students’ SU email.
If you or your guests require accommodations for the day, we are happy to assist. Contact the Office of Disability Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a new student, you are invited to participate in a pre-orientation program, which is a few days prior to the start of Take Flight. Though not required, the programs offer a way for students to build leadership skills, make connections and acclimate early to their new home away from home. More information about these opportunities and registration will be shared with students.
Move-In Day & Convocation
Your first day on campus is Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020. Expect to be greeted by members of the O-Team, sporting bright orange shirts. They will be at the ready to help unload your vehicle with precision and style.
On the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, you will be officially welcomed as an official member of the Susquehanna student body during this ceremony. Parents and family are invited to watch the festivities as well!
Take Flight & Welcome Week
Take Flight is a welcome program that begins Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020. After your family departs, you’ll attend information sessions and social activities, meet faculty and your academic advisor, participate in a day of service, connect with other students, and more!
Welcome Week starts on your first day of classes, Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, and includes a variety of social and educational activities surrounding your classes during your first week at SU. While open to the whole campus, these events help you get a feel for the opportunities available to you, as well as chances to meet other current students!
